A E Chapman & Son Limited, for many years, a major supplier of glass packaging to the Beverage, Mineral Water and Wine producers in the United Kingdom are delighted to announce the launch of their two new lightweight 500ml Beer containers. Produced in the UK, at 300gms in weight, they will be among the lightest available to the trade.

On the back of the successful launch of two lightweight mineral water ranges earlier this year, we continue to work closely with our supplier and can now make available to you, as brewers, the benefits of the latest technological developments in lightweight glass packaging, having reduced the weight by upwards of 15%. This could obviously have a positive impact on your business in a climate where we are all currently seeing many negative effects.

In recent months, we have analysed the market, and based on our findings, offer these two containers. Both are produced at 300gms, one has a diameter of 69mm, the other 73mm. The rationale behind these two diameters firstly being the desire by the high street multiples, to maximise shelf facings and hence a diameter of 69mm and secondly, the 73mm diameter container is a more traditional style which should be accommodated on many filling lines without the necessity for additional ‘change parts’.

We intend to have stock available to meet forecast demand, initially in Amber and Flint (clear) glass from early in 2009. There will be the facility to produce in Green also, should there be sufficient demand.

Amber, Green & White flint beer bottles are available. Accessible sizes incorporate 275ml, 330ml & 500ml.

Crown cap is the customary finish but advice can be given on other closures required.
